Degree Application

The courses that I have taken throughout the LSCM program helped me to understand my role and the purpose of my job. My perspective has changed about my company’s operations and the decisions that are made by upper management. I notice the dependency everyone has on each other and how critical that dependency is in our efforts to meet the goals of the company. Understanding the internal and external environment is essential in this field. This is so because the economy is constantly changing. One must be aware of what is going on in the economy and how the company may be impacted. Natural catastrophes, wars, politics, and increased fuel prices all affect decisions made within the supply chain. Strategical decisions are created when working together and can help mitigate some of the risks that are associated with these situations.

I prefer working alone and I have a strong sense of independence, but everything cannot be resolved while working alone. Teamwork benefits the company because ideas that come from everyone will bring forth a solution that most likely benefits all. There is always protocol in place in any business, but you must be able to analyze situations, problem solve, do some critical thinking, and apply what you have learned to each situation you come across. Supply chain and logistics involve many operations and consist of communicating with many people. The fundamental skills that are taught in this program are essential and are needed to thrive in the competitive, global environment that we are in today.
